Growing your own
food is very popular at the moment and we stock
a whole range of seasonal plants to get you started. |
 |
| |
Fruit Trees
are available all year round and, because they are
container grown, they can be planted at any time of year. We
usually
have available a good selection of apples, pears, plums and
sometimes nectarines, peaches, cherries and nuts. The
fruit trees
are available on a variety of rootstocks, which determine the
eventual
size of the tree. We also have available fan trained
fruit trees for
growing up against walls. All our fruit trees have been
selected to
do well in Northern regions. |
| |
Fruit Bushes
are mainly available in the spring, with a good choice
of gooseberries, currants, blackberries and sometimes
cranberries
and blueberries (pictured right). |
|
| |
 |
|
Raspberry Canes
(pictured left) are available as bare-rooted
canes, wrapped in a plastic sleeve, from November through to
late winter. We usually have a range that includes
autumn
fruiting types. |
| |
|
| |
Strawberry
Plants are available from early spring right through
to September. These are all locally grown and are
available in
small pots, or hanging baskets for a more unusual ornamental
feature. |
| |
|
| |
Vegetables
are available as young plants in the spring. The
range includes brassicas, Kelsae onion, lettuce, beans and
sweetcorn. |
| |
|
| |
Herbs are
available for much of the year, although tender varieties
such as dill, tarragon and basil are only available when the
risk of
frost has passed. All our herbs are intended to be
planted outside
although some can survive on a windowsill for some time. |
