Things to do in

June

  JULY   August

Plant of the Month Roses "American Pillar" and "Dorothy Perkins".
These fantastic climbing roses can be seen at their very best growing along the chains in the
walled garden at Floors. "Dorothy Perkins" is an old variety which has masses of small double
pink flowers, and "American Pillar" has a single pink flower with a lighter centre. Both are easy
to grow and thrive in a sunny site with a soil enriched with Westland Farmyard Manure. Lightly
prune each autumn and prune hard back in late March.

Tip of the month:
The presence of blanket weed can ruin your pond and cause a hazard for pond fish. Apply Nishikoi "Goodbye Blanket Weed"
as soon as you see the blanket weed appearing. Used over a period of several weeks as directed it provides an effective
solution to an unsightly problem.

Gardening Tasks:
Ö   Water copiously all newly planted trees, shrubs and roses.
Ö   Liquid feed containers and hanging baskets with Phostrogen Soluble Plant Food.
Ö   Raise the blades of the lawn mower during dry spells to keep a fresh green lawn and irrigate as necessary.
Ö   Sit back and enjoy the garden whilst burning citronella candles to keep the midges at bay.
Ö   Dead-head and tidy up foliage of perennials.
Ö   Feed roses whilst in flower with Top Rose.
Ö   Thin out oxygenating pond plants if necessary.
Ö   Sow pansy and viola seeds for winter flowering.
